アメリカ英語とイギリス英語では単語が異なるものがあることは知っていますね。

アパートのアメリカ英語はapartmentでイギリス英語ではflat

１階のアメリカ英語はfirst floordでイギリス英語ではground floor

これ以外にも沢山あるので、この英米単語の違いシリーズで覚えていきましょう。

例文はイギリス英語です。

「整理ダンス」

例

妻「I was having a proper clear-out of my chest of drawers for the first time in ages,

　　（久しぶりに整理ダンスの中身を全部出して整理してたの）

 and ended up finding a sock from 50 years ago.

（そうしたら５０年前のソックスがひとつ出てきたわ）

I got all nostalgic. Before I knew it, it was the middle of the night.

先輩「You're practically wearing a sauna suit at this point.

　　　　（もうある意味、サウナスーツでも来てるようなもんや。）

     Be careful. You might start cooking in there.   Are you cooking a human hot dog?」
